Hi Jeff, thanks for the video. What banner ad networks are best and do you have a course on this ? Thanks.
Jeff Johnson says
Sorry but I don’t have a course on it and we don’t have a “favorite” list right now.
We have tested google, retargeter, facebook ads, and others.
And affiliate networks like cj.com can be very effective.
But we built our own private ad network and that’s been great for us so far. It’s based on openx software.
This Blog Sucks says
Actually, this blog DOES NOT suck. Just using Jeff’s advice to get people to read my post. Ha Ha….
Hey Jeff, thanks for the training! I’ve just gotten into purchasing banner ads to promote a social media product to the job seeking marketing. This is an audience who are not internet marketers and no home business types… therefore, they are more skeptical of training programs sold online. To reach this market, I have begun to promote on high quality social media sites with a 300 x 250 banner that is more colorful and classy. Do you find some sites won’t run ugly text banners?
Jeff Johnson says
Yes, some sites/networks don’t like the ugly banners but we just ran them with a retargeting compnay and they were blown away by the conversions 🙂
Social Media Manager says
I just got approved to rotate an uglier text banner on one of these sites I mentioned. I’ll let you know if the click through rate changes (as well as how it compares with my more classy banner). The banner is in a very prominent place to I was already getting great click through rates.
If you’re interested the ads rotate on the top right bar on http://sociable.co/. It’s for Ryan’s ‘Let’s Get Social’ program and the text banner is actually one they provide to affiliates, but I went ahead and created a classier looking one. Funny thing.. before watching your video, I thought “why are they providing such UGLY banners? Now I know… thanks!

Great video, Jeff. And I agree… human nature IS human nature. Simply tailor the words for what YOU sell… the psychological motivators work on all… humans. We all have the same foundational wants, which I call the LifeForce-8. They’re hardwired in us, regardless of our business. They have nothing to do with any particular product or service or business or industry. They’re the engines that drive the response to ALL advertising.
Keep up the great work!

Whilst simple ads like the ones you’ve shown are good for hype products, they’re not so appropriate for SaaS businesses (for example). Still, some good research and very interesting results!
Jeff Johnson says
Not true… human nature is human nature… they respond to the same hot buttons.. just need slight modifications but the basic concepts apply.

i would love to see the results for that test

thanks Jeff … I’m still a little unclear why they accept your jjlikes.com/…. links (which then lead straight to the affiliate-offer)?
like on pg 4 of your PDF you give the link http://www.jjlikes.com/spfdw which is Don’s landing page and is obviously on a totally different domain from jjlikes.
That’s the one I don’t understand — is it because you’ve already spent gazillions of $$$ with them that they let you get away with it?
Cheers
Veit
Jeff Johnson says
I’m not usin google for the ad… I’m using my own ad network.
But google will let you use redirects, just not straight to an affiliate offer.
Veit says
Hey Jeff, yep, they love NOT taking my money.
my main pb is that they’re disallowing my redirects (I tried something like your jjlikes.com/….), but that got disallowed straight away.
Unfortunately, the straight affiliate link is > 35 chars long, so: any thought as to why they accept your jjlikes.com/… redirect?
Cheers
Veit
Jeff Johnson says
They don’t like, or even allow you to link directly to an affiliate offer… sounds like that is your issue.
You need to develop your own site dedicated to the affiliate offer, or other affiliate offers that you send them to… don’t link directly to the affiliate offer.
They visit your site first and then click off you site to the affiliate offer.
