They just delivered my new baby a week or two ago.
It’s a 1965 black-on-black Lincoln Continental convertible with suicide doors.
It’s a true classic that is highly sought after by collectors, probably because of the history surrounding it.
JFK was shot in a Lincoln convertible limo, the guys in Entourage on HBO drive a black-on-black 1965 Lincoln convertible just like mine, and the sedan they drove in the movie “The Matrix” was also a black 1965 Continental sedan.
Every time I take my new baby out for a ride I get tons of “great car” comments, more so than any other car I have ever owned, including that $169,000.00 AMG Benz I won earlier this year.
I love that fact that driving a car that makes me smile so much, also makes the people who see it smile as well.
Here’s the best part:
I won the car in an affiliate contest from Ryan Deiss, who won it from Frank Kern just a few years ago.
And Frank paid 55 grand for it so it’s been restored to cherry condition.
Winning the car I’ve always wanted is a dream come true.
Especially by winning it in an Affiliate contest. I love to win ๐
Here’s the problem:
They just delivered the convertible a week or two ago.
Unfortunately, convertible season is over here in Michigan so I only get to drive it on warm, sunny days… which are few and far between during late October in Michigan.
So when I woke up this morning and I saw the weather report calling for highs in the low 50s and mostly sunny skies I proudly proclaimed to my wife “I’m driving the Lincoln today, Baby!”
Here’s the funny part:
I went over to the garage where the Lincoln is stored, fired it up, and hit the open road.
5 minutes into my cruise it started to rain (so much for the weather report calling for a 10% chance of rain).
So I pulled over to put up the convertible top (it’s supposed to do so automatically).
But the trunk got stuck open during the process and I couldn’t get it to close. I spent 10 minutes on the side of the road, in the rain, just trying to get the trunk closed. Luckily I was finally able to get it to close.
But then the rear passenger window decided not to close. Thankfully is was more of a mist than a downpour so the rear seats really didn’t get that wet.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my new car.
Dealing with these little issues is all part of charm of owning a classic car.
So instead of getting mad I simply turned the car around with a smile on my face and I headed back to the garage so I could put my baby back into storage.
This is when it really got funny…
When I was driving my baby back to storage I turned on the windshield wipers because it was still raining.
And as I’m cruising down the road at 50 or 60 miles an hour… all of a sudden the entire windshield wiper arm… the entire wiper assembly… suddenly flew off the car.
The entire wiper assembly just flew right off… gone with the wind.
I pulled right over and I ran up and down the side of the road, in the rain, for 5 minutes trying to find my windshield wiper arm. But I never found it.
I couldn’t help but laugh about it.
All I wanted to do was drive my new baby but it was just one crazy thing after another.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day. And if it’s sunny, I’ll be sure to get my guys to shoot a video for you so I can show you all the cool features like the suicide doors, the hood that opens “backwards”, the reverse opening trunk, and the window that just refuses to close.
It’s a true classic!

That’s one sharp Lincoln Jeff. I’ve help sell a few suicide door Lincoln’s over the years and they are quite the eye grabbing cars. Looks mighty cool in black – congrats on your new baby. ๐
